Back to the
drawing board.
My first cycle was fun and games. I made money, lost more, and none of it was on purpose.
So I locked in. I studied how this market actually moves, so that when the next cycle came round, I’d be ready — and already positioned.
This is the strategy that came out of it. It’s boring on purpose. It’s why I bought Solana at $8.
The four seasons
of the market.
Bitcoin’s halving every four years sets a rhythm the whole market follows. Every cycle moves through the same four seasons. Once you see them, you stop asking “is it going up?” and start asking “which season are we in?”
In Lesson 1 I sold BNB, SOL and XRP in the wrong season. If I’d known where we were in the cycle, I’d have held — and bought more.
DCA: the boring
strategy that works.
Dollar-cost averaging means investing the same amount on a set schedule, whatever the price. You don’t need to find the bottom. When prices fall, each purchase buys more — which pulls your average price down.
It takes the one thing that cost me most in my first cycle — my emotions — out of the decision.
- Buy solid projects, Bitcoin first.Through bear markets and quiet, low-hype phases. Not whatever’s trending this week.
- Never stop because the price drops. That’s exactly when DCA does its best work.
- Scale out in stages when it’s most hyped.Take profit step by step into euphoria, instead of trying to sell the exact top.
The SOL story.
2023. Solana had been written off — dragged to the floor by the FTX collapse at the end of 2022. Most people wouldn’t touch it.
This time I wasn’t guessing. The market was in accumulation, SOL had survived the worst bear market in its history, and the price was on the floor. So I started buying at around $8 and kept buying all through 2023, sharing my reasoning every week in our private Telegram.

No meme coin. None of the lottery risk of my SHIB trade. Just a major project, bought in the right season, with the patience to hold.
Which season was the market in when SOL was $8?
Build your plan.
Strategy only works when it’s written down before the market moves. Fill this in and you’ll have your own one-page plan — save it, screenshot it, or send it to yourself.
Amounts are just for planning. This isn’t a prediction of returns, and it isn’t financial advice.
My DCA plan
Strategy is only
half of it.
You’ve now got the map and the method. But here’s the truth: knowing the plan and sticking to it are two different skills. In my first cycle I sold SHIB the night before it took off.
The last piece isn’t a strategy at all. It’s you — and that’s Lesson 3.
You’ve got the plan.
Now let’s make sure you can stick to it when the market tests you.
Education only — not financial advice. Cryptoassets are high-risk and largely unregulated in the UK; you could lose all the money you invest. Past performance does not guarantee future results.
